Message from Mr. Gray

Dear Catharine Blaine community,

I’m writing to let you know I am on a medical leave of absence without a known end date. Our Executive Director of Schools, Dr. James Mercer, and I have discussed what needs to be done to prepare for the start of the school year. Karen Harris has agreed to step in as interim Principal, starting August 14th. Ms. Harris has extensive experience as a school leader and was the interim Assistant Principal at Catharine Blaine in the spring of 2021 when we re-opened for in-person school. She knows most of our staff and many of our families, is familiar with our school culture, and is looking forward to launching the 2023-2024 school year.

I’m very sorry to not be with our school community at this time and it will be a strange feeling to not be greeting students on the first day of school for the first time in 18 years. We have incredibly competent and collaborative teachers and staff, and a great student and family community. I know everyone will pull together to start the year strong.

I hope you all are well. I’ll miss seeing you in the coming weeks and I hope you have a great start to the school year.​​​​​​​
